TINIG PINOY RADIO ( THE VOICE OF THE FILIPINO)

Tinig Pinoy was founded in the fall of 1992 at CKCU 93.1 FM by Mr. Dan de Castro to serve the Filipino community in Ottawa. Initially reporting events about the local community and news from the Philippines as well as playing Original Pilipino Music (OPMs), it also initiated and ran projects that directly benefited the growing Filipino community in Canada’s capital region. Much of Tinig Pinoy’s success and longevity is owed to its unique programming and community service-oriented projects and more so due to the strong support by the audience it serves.

Aiming to serve Filipinos not only in Canada but Globally, a memorable event was held in April of 2012, the launching of www.tinigpinoy.net which is now on the 2nd year of non-stop broadcasting, serving 24/7 of OPM songs and live shows from Monday to Sunday and heard all over the world where there is internet.

On September 26th, or three nights ago, to celebrate its 22nd year anniversary of community service, a Masquarade Party was held at the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre, in Ottawa.

Nagdagdag din ng ibayong kulay at saya ang 22 “lovely ladies of Ottawa” who gamely and graciously “perfomed” a “CATWALK” on the hall and ending at the stage where they each held a symbolic candle representing each of the 22 years of Tinig Pinoy’s existence and service to the community. The 22 “catwalkers” then led the assembly in the singing of a birthday song which ended in the cutting of the birthday cake led by DCM Norman Garibay and Kuya Dan de Castro. Also performing entertaining numbers were vocalists Marc Rogiero Reyes, Joanna Hipolito, Jhune Leonardo, slap guitarist Rommel Bautista, Cobourg’s Thelma Dillon who did a hot Tahitian number, belly-dancer Jenny Thomas, Miss Karma Live and impersonator Kiki Coe.

All the Dj’s of Tinig Pinoy Radio from Ottawa headquarters were there too, headed by our Founder/Executive Producer Dan de Castro, Director of Programming Dj Regina Sosing, Dj Ronan “Noypi” Mesa , Dj Gerry Orcia, Dj Rhea Rivilla ,dj Eddie Villarta at ang inyong lingkod Dj Michelle Alfeche.

To have a glimpse of the magical evening’s happenings, here are some pictures taken during the event. Enjoy!
