Dear Friend,

The chaos and destruction caused by Typhoon Yolanda two weekends is absolutely devastating. Towns and cities along the Eastern seaboard of the Philippines were ravaged by the most powerful typhoon ever recorded and left thousands of dead and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of loss and damage to crops, businesses and properties.

Survivors, majority of whom now housed in makeshift emergency shelters, in the hardest hit places such as Tacloban City and Eastern Samar are clinging for dear life due to lack or scarcity of food, water, clothing and medical supplies. Thousands of children, the frail and elderly among them suffer the most.

Every moment matters for these grief-stricken, hungry and terrified people. These hapless victims need help and soon. This is urgent and many lives are on the line, so we are asking for your urgent support. Anyone with internet access can easily donate to our Save Yolanda’s Victims Fund Drive. Please visit, and click on the Donation Button. PayPal and six major credit cards can be used to donate.

On Sunday, November 24 at 2PM, we are holding an Ecumenical Prayer Service organized by Philippine Centre Canada, the Dominican University College and Paroisse Saint Jean-Baptiste with the collaboration of a number of Filipino congregations in the Ottawa area. This will be followed by a Save Yolanda Victims Fundraising Concert where local talents will perform for guests and donors. Money raised from this fund raiser will be sent thru Red Cross Canada to take advantage of Government of Canada’s matching offer.*

We appeal for your compassion, your selflessness and generosity in the face of this heartbreaking crisis. Any help you can give will go a long way. Maraming salamat po!

• With our partnership with the Canadian Red Cross, all proceeds from this fund raiser is matched dollar for dollar by the Government of Canada*
